Last stop for the exhibition "La presse ancienne révélée" (The ancient press revealed)
The traveling exhibition "La presse ancienne révélée," organized bythe Occitanie Livre & Lecture association, made its last stop at the Richter University Library in Montpellier from November 7 to December 9, 2016.
Since 2015, it has visited several cities to promote the digitization of 76 old regional and local press titles from Languedoc-Roussillon between 1786 and 1944. Le Moniteur judiciaire du Midi is thus coming to light after decades in the Law and Economics University Library collection.
This exhibition, combining physical media and digital access, allows visitors to discover both the history of the press and this fabulous regional project to preserve written heritage, as well as to better understand the challenges of digitizing old newspapers.
On this occasion, you will discover some treasures unearthed from the press and preserved in various university libraries. Numerous activities will accompany this exhibition (screenings, quizzes, student participation, etc.).
