Who is the BU student job for?
The student employment contract allows you to balance your student job with your studies: you work on campus and can manage your time by prioritizing your studies. It's up to you to choose the profile that best suits your availability!
To apply, you must:
- be enrolled at the University of Montpellier for the 2025-2026 academic year
- be available without interruption from September 2025 until May or June 2026 (see details of offers)
What for?
- Welcome and provide information to users
- Ensure the loan and return of documents and materials
- Assist users in utilizing on-site services (public computers, copiers, group study rooms, etc.)
- Monitoring reading rooms
- File documents in the library
- Prepare documents before they are made available in the library
- Participate in monitoring library usage (counting visitors, conducting surveys on where they come from, assisting with statistical monitoring)
- Depending on the location and the job offer, participate in opening and closing the university library with the help of permanent staff and security guards.
- Participate in documentary projects on an ad hoc basis

Training on BU tools and services is provided after recruitment.
Remuneration
The student contract is an hourly rate contract.
All hours worked before 7 p.m. are paid at the minimum wage rate.
All hours worked between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. are paid at the minimum wage rate plus 20%.
All hours worked after 10 p.m., on Saturday afternoons, Sundays, and public holidays are paid at the minimum wage plus 50%.
Payment is made after the hours have been worked, based on a statement validated each month by the employer, which means that remuneration is paid two months after the work has been done. According to this principle, hours worked in September 2025 are paid at the end of November 2025, and remuneration continues until July or August 2026, depending on the period covered by the chosen profile.
Nature of the contract
Public law contract with a trial period depending on the duration of the contract and without precariousness compensation.

▶ WEEKDAYS FOR DAYS AND EVENINGS – 7 positions
Quota: office hours Monday through Friday
- 6 hours per week during the day for 26 weeks
- and 10 hours per week during the day and in the evening, over 12 weeks (extended hours periods).

Hours: 9 hours every Saturday from October 4, 2025, to May 23, 2026, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. (1-hour lunch break) + 2 evenings from 6:45 p.m. to 9 p.m. per week for 12 weeks during the year (before exams, open until 9 p.m.).

OFFER 2 – BU SCIENCES

▶ WEEKLY FOR THE DAY: 4 POSITIONS
Hours: 10 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m.

▶ SUNDAYS AND EVENINGS: 12 POSITIONS
Quota: the schedule provides for a 3-week rotation of 3 teams of 4 people. Each team works two and a half shifts per week in the evening from 6:45 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. (two shifts of three hours and 45 minutes one week, three shifts of three hours and 45 minutes the following week) + one Sunday in three from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. (eight hours with a one-hour lunch break).
