Comic books for better healthcare

On June 13, 2025, at the joint initiative of the Montpellier Faculty of Medicine and the Joint Documentation Service, the first "Comics for Better Care" meeting was held :  Alice Baguet, Olivia Hagimont, and Matthieu Blanchin, three authors who have recounted their experiences with illness in comic books, were invited to share their journeys and their perspectives as patients with students and the general public.

This unique and original event highlighted the collaboration between the faculty's teaching teams and the librarians at the University of Montpellier to include lessons on the challenges of the caregiver-patient relationship, in its human, ethical, and social dimensions, in the training of doctors.

The booklet published for this day offers a selection from the collection of "narrative medicine" comics that has been compiled and made available for several years in the university medical libraries of Nîmes and Montpellier, as training materials for students, objects of study for practitioners, and a tool for raising awareness among all.
